Stock shortfalls
When a till sells offline and another till sold the last units meanwhile, the sale is still booked and the missing units are recorded as a shortfall. Find each one and account for it: stock that arrived without being booked, a count that confirms the loss, or something else.

Where shortfalls come from
A till that loses its connection keeps selling from the stock it last knew (see Selling when the connection drops). If another till sells the last units in the meantime, the offline sale still arrives later: the customer paid and holds a numbered receipt, so it is never refused. It is booked, the stock that is left is taken, and the units the books did not have are recorded as a shortfall. Until it is resolved, those units carry no cost of goods sold, because the books never held them.
The list
Open StockShortfalls. The menu entry shows how many are open. Each row is one product on one sale: the Product, the Location (No location when the till had none), how many were Short, the Sale by the invoice number on the customer's receipt (click it to open the sale), the Till, when it was Sold and when it Synced, and its Status.
Filter by Status (Open, Resolved or All), Location and the days the goods were sold. The newest sale is first.

Choose one of the three answers below and add a Note if it helps (it is required for Other), then press Resolve.

Resolving then takes the short units off that location as part of the sale, so a later void or return of the sale puts them back, and books their cost of goods sold, dated the day you resolve it. If the location still has fewer units than are short, the window says so and links to receiving; it cannot be resolved this way yet. A shortfall with no location asks which location to take the units from. |

Every resolution records who resolved it, when, the answer and the note, and a shortfall can be resolved only once: if someone else got there first, the window says so. A sale that was voided already put its units back, so for it only Other is offered.
