Production runs
Make a batch ahead — dough, sauces, bread — from a recipe: the ingredients leave stock when the run starts, the finished goods arrive when it is completed, at their cost.

A recipe on a dish is used up at the till, dish by dish. A production run makes a stocked product in a batch ahead of time — 20 dough balls in the morning — so the flour leaves stock once, and the dough balls are then stock like anything you buy. It needs the Production & Recipes module.
The recipe for what you make
The product you make must be a stocked product with one active variant. Give it a recipe under ProductionRecipes: the output (1 piece of Dough Ball) and its ingredients, each in any unit that converts to the ingredient's own — 250 g of a flour stocked in kilograms. An ingredient you do not have yet can be made with New ingredient under the ingredient picker, without leaving the recipe. The Cost Rollup shows what one costs: 250 g at $1.20 a kilogram is $0.30. Press Activate on the recipe's page; only an active recipe can be produced.

Plan a run
Create Order
ProductionOrders, then Create Order. The recipe and where
Type part of the Recipe's name and pick it. Pick the Location: the ingredients come off this location's stock, and the finished goods go onto it.How many
Planned Qty and its UOM (20 pieces). Priority, dates and notes are optional. Press Create Order.

The order is Planned. Its page lists each ingredient's Required Qty in the recipe's unit — 20 × 250 g = 5,000.00 g of flour.
Start it
Start Order, and confirm. The ingredients leave the location's stock at once, converted to the unit they are stocked in (5 kg of flour), oldest stock first, and their cost is held as work in progress. If any ingredient is short, the start is refused, names it, and nothing moves; the order stays planned: Insufficient stock for Type 55 Flour (kg) at Otura Beirut Store - Main Counter. Requested: 12.5, Available: 10.

Complete it
Once started, the page asks for the Actual Qty made and shows the variance from the plan. Complete Order puts what was made into stock at the location, in the unit the product is stocked in (500 g of bread for a product stocked in kilograms is 0.5 kg), at the run's cost. A run with nothing made cannot be completed, and a run can be completed only once.
