The desktop app window

Full screen for the counter PC, the window buttons on Windows, and collapsing the navigation sidebar.

Checked against the product on 18 October 2026

In the Otura desktop app, the strip across the top of the window belongs to the app: it is the same colour as the rest of the screen, and you drag the window by it on every screen, including sign-in and pairing. On a Mac the usual red, yellow and green buttons sit at its left end. On Windows the app draws its own buttons at the right end.

Full screen (F11)Fills the whole monitor and covers the taskbar. The button then reads Exit full screen (F11).
MinimizeHides the window to the taskbar.
Maximize / Restore downFills the screen above the taskbar, or returns to the previous size.
CloseCloses the app.

In full screen, Minimize and Maximize are hidden, as in any Windows app; Close stays. The buttons are there on the lock screen too.

Full screen on a till

A counter PC shows the till all day, and the taskbar is only somewhere to click by mistake. Press F11, or click Full screen (F11), to hide it. Press F11 again to leave.

The choice is remembered on this computer, so a till left in full screen opens in full screen after a restart or an update. It is a setting of the computer, not of the business: other tills keep their own.

The first button in the top strip is Collapse Sidebar, which narrows the navigation sidebar to icons and back (Expand Sidebar). The [ key does the same when you are not typing in a field. It is there on the till screen and in the back office, on Mac and on Windows.

On a narrow window the sidebar is replaced by a menu button, so the collapse button is hidden.
